PART I. READ A TEXT ALOUD
Directions: In this part of the test, you will read aloud the text. Then you will have 45 seconds to read the text aloud.
A new AIDS vaccine has been introduced to the population of Thailand. The experimental vaccine was proven to reduce the risk of infection by 31% over 3 years. Unfortunately, recent tests have shown that the vaccine may only temporarily protect patients. Many have asked for further testing on the vaccine to prove that it can truly reduce the risk of contracting AIDS. This is David Brummel from London News.
PART II. DESCRIBE A PICTURE
Directions: In this part of the test, you will describe the picture on your screen in as much detail as you can.
PART III. RESPOND TO QUESTIONS
Directions: In this part of the test, you will answer three questions. For each question, begin responding immediately.
Imagine that United Airlines is doing research in your country. You have agreed to participate in a telephone interview about flying in airplanes.
Question 1: How many times have you flown in an airplane?
Question 2: What was the most recent time you flew in an airplane?
Question 3: When you travel by airplane, do you prefer to sit in an aisle seat, or a window seat?
PART IV. PROPOSE A SOLUTION
Directions: In this part of the test, you will be presented with a problem and asked to propose a solution. Respond as if you work at the restaurant.
In your response, be sure to
- show that you recognize the problem, and
- propose a way of dealing with the problem.

Hey, uh, this is Ron Davis. I was at your restaurant today, and I think I left my jacket there. I had lunch at around 1:30 and I was sitting near the front window. The jacket is, uh, the jacket is brown but green on the inside. I am still nearby so I can, uh, come back if you find it. Let me know if you find it. Just give me a call at 634-0770. And, again, my name is Ron. Thanks. Take care.
